Performance
A 2.4 L gas engine drives the base trims of the 2019 Sorento and Sportage. Engineered to deliver on-demand power and torque, a 2.0 L turbocharged powertrain propels the highest-level Sportage trim. Also designed to provide good efficiency and respectable output, a 3.3 V6 engine is standard in six Sorento models. Both Kia vehicles have the GDI and CVVT technology under the hood. Carrying the trademark Dynamax technology, the AWD system in each car has excellent all-weather ratings. Electronic sensors control the transfer of power to wheels that seem to slip. If driving conditions deteriorate due to inclement weather, you should lock the center differential for reliable low-speed crawling. Additionally, the optional Torque Vectoring Cornering Control maintains the Sorento's poise on a curved path. Both Kia crossover SUVs wear anti-lock brakes (ABS) that reduce stopping distances on slippery roads.
Interior Features
A 14-way driver's seat is installed in two of the 2019 Sorento models. A cushion extension and lumbar support are other highlights of this comfortable seat that's upholstered in Nappa leather. Most trims offer 10 different positions for the driver's seat. Some of the entry-level and mid-level models have cloth seats that are protected by the YES Essentials technology. A 40-20-40 seating configuration is standard in the second row, and a 50-50 arrangement occupies the third row. A 17-step reclining function is available in the 2019 Sportage's rear seats that have a 60-40 configuration. Both Kia models offer heating and cooling in the front seats. A dual-zone climate control system seems sufficient for the compact Sportage. As a much larger model, the Sorento is appropriately equipped with air vents in the third row. Each vehicle also has a defogging system for the rear glass.
Technology Features
The UVO technology controls the hardware and software of the 2019 Sorento and Sportage's infotainment systems. Both Kia models offer 7-inch and 8-inch touch screens for easy interaction. Select trims offer the Voice-Command Navigation platform that recognizes natural speech of the driver and front passenger. Both vehicles support seamless mobile integration through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Eight speakers are available in the Sportage, and 10 speakers are optional in the Sorento. Both sound systems are manufactured by the renowned Harman Kardon company. Occupants in the Sorento will love the Surround Sound output that's partially generated by an 8.0-inch subwoofer.
